Abstract

Objective: To evaluate whether chronic taurine supplementation alters lifespan and age-related physiology in mice. In a multi-cohort study, adult mice received taurine-enriched chow or vehicle control and were followed longitudinally for survival, body composition, metabolic markers, immune parameters, and physical performance. Taurine-treated animals showed favorable shifts in lean mass preservation, glucose handling, inflammation-associated markers, and neuromuscular function across several outcome domains. Survival analyses suggested a modest extension of median lifespan with a parallel improvement in several healthspan indicators. The magnitude of benefit varied by sex and baseline age, but the overall pattern was consistent with a broad geroprotective signal. These findings support taurine as a candidate nutrient-linked modulator of aging biology and justify further mechanistic and translational work in older mammals and humans.
